Downtown Eye Care will be closing July 31, 2020. This is an unanticipated closure due to financial reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We will be scheduling patients until July 24th at our current location. Beginning August 26th, I will be practicing part-time at Physicians Eye Clinic, 2101 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50265. Their phone number is 515-225-2566. There is parking adjacent to the office making it more convenient for you.

I hope you will continue to trust me with your eye care.

I will continue to be a provider under all medical insurances that I currently accept. However, I will not be able to bill vision insurance plans like VSP, EyeMed, Avesis, and Superior vision because Physicians Eye Clinic does not accept any vision insurances. Many people have eye exams covered through their medical insurance, especially if there are medical conditions like diabetes present. Also, all medical eye conditions like red eyes, cataracts, dry eyes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are always billed through your medical insurance as I have done in the past.

If you have vision insurance coverage for your glasses and contact lenses, I can file your exam under your medical insurance, and you may buy your glasses or contacts from an optical shop that accepts your vision plan. You do not need to have your eye exam performed by a vision insurance provider in order to have your glasses and contact lenses paid for by your vision plan. I will give you your contacts and glasses prescriptions after your exam and you may have them filled anywhere you choose.

Your medical records will be staying with me. I will be happy to forward your medical records to the provider of your choice if you decide to transfer to another doctor. A Release of Information form is downloadable by clicking the link below. You can either mail, email or fax it to Downtown Eye Care. The email address is frontdesk@downtowneye.net, or fax it to 515-281-0915 prior to July 30th. After July 30th, mail your records release form to the above address, in West Des Moines, or fax it to 515-225-2425 at Physicians Eye Clinic.

If you need to see an eye doctor in between June 25th and August 25th, please call Physicians Eye Clinic at 515-225-2566. If you have a future appointment scheduled with me, we will call you to reschedule it at my new location.
