A proper comprehensive eye exam extends far beyond determining a new prescription for your glasses or contacts. Comprehensive eye exams are medical exams to assess the health of your eyes and vision. Comprehensive eye exams can also help shed light on your total body health. Our experienced, board-certified Ophthalmologists (EyeMDs) provide comprehensive eye exams which include measuring your vision, reviewing your medical history, and examining your eyes from front to back.
Eye Exams At Downtown Eye Care
Whether you just need a regular annual exam or you have been noticing recent changes in your vision, we offer comprehensive eye exams performed by our experienced, board-certified Ophthalmologists (EyeMDs).
What Is The Comprehensive Eye Exam?
At Downtown Eye Care, our EyeMDs perform state-of-the-art comprehensive eye exams, which include measuring your vision, reviewing your medical history, checking your pupil and extraocular muscles, measuring your intraocular pressure, examination of your eyelids and the skin surrounding your eyes, and a detailed exam of your eyes from the front to back, including a dilated exam. If the exam suggests that your vision may improve with corrective lenses, additional testing is utilized to determine your new prescription for glasses and/or contact lenses. Additional tests such as Humphrey Visual Fields™ and OCT™ may be also performed when conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy may be present. Our EyeMDs utilize various other state-of-the-art tests, specialized techniques and experience to assist us in diagnosing and treating eye conditions and diseases.
We know that a comprehensive eye exam with dilation can be a source of anxiety for some patients. Our EyeMDs work hard every day to provide as pleasant, relaxing, and comfortable experience in our clinic as possible.
